CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Conditionals are sentences with two clauses – an ‘if clause and a main clause – that are closely related.

 

There are 4 main types of CONDITIONAL  sentences in English

IF + PRESENT SIMPLE

PRESENT SIMPLE

If I had gone to the party

I would  have seen you

                              If my mother goes shopping , she always buys something for my children

Use:

• To talk about events or situations that can occur at any time, and often occur more than once and their results

                         If it snows, children don't go to school

• To talk about actions which always have the same result

                                            If you heat ice, it melts
