A TROUBLE-FREE TRIP

This is a last minute reminder for travellers.

Once you're packed and just about ready to leave, double-check all the essentials for your trip.
Make sure you've got an adequate mix of clothes, but don't take your entire wardrobe with you. Remember to leave a little room in your luggage for presents and souvenirs from your trip, and once everything is packed, ensure your luggage is not too heavy to carry.
Most important of all, just before you leave, check that you have remembered every one of the various documents you will need. Make sure you have your ticket and passport. Check that your passport is valid for the duration of your journey and that you have all the necessary visas attached to your passport. Take your credit cards and check they are up-to-date.
If you are travelling to South America, Asia or Africa, you will probably need up-to-date vaccination certificates. Some of these, such as cholera, are only valid for 6 months. Don't leave necessary health certificates behind, keep them with your passport- they can be just as important as the passport itself.
It's also worth taking an atlas with you on your travels. Not only will you know exactly where you are going (and where you've just been) but you will be able to see exactly which countries you fly over and how many different time-zones you are passing through.
Remember, it costs nothing to check, double-check and check again that you've remembered everything from visas to toothpaste. The alternative may be a miserable or even disastrous holiday.
