The early years

The Beatles started in 1959 and they were probably the most popular group ever. There were four men in the group: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Lennon, Mc Cartney  and Harrison all played guitars and Starr played the drums. Lennon and Mc Cartney wrote most of the songs.The Beatles recorded 214 songs from 1962 to 1070. Twenty songs were number 1 in the pop charts

The American trip

At first , the Beatles were only popular in Europe. Then in 1964 they went to the USA. Seventy-three million people watched  them on television in New York . After that, the group were very popular in the USA too. Many adults didn't like the Beatles because they were different, but teenagers everywhere loved them

What else did the Beatles do?

The Beatles didn't only make music. They also made some films. Two of their films were A Hard Day's Night and Help!
