When I am in the gym trying to sweat my kilos away I’ve sometimes considered not listening to music and instead ,making a better use of the time I spend there. Today I’ve bumped into this page and I have thought :” That’s what I was looking for!” So instead of running with Lady Gaga I’m going to start running with Jane Austen, Mark Twain or Virginia Wolf.
In Books Should Be Free you can find a lot of free audio books divided according to their genre: adventure, comedy, romance, fairy tales, poetry…etc and you can download them in mp3,iPod or iTunes format . Now, you have no excuse for not practising English, even when you’re at the gym!!

A bit of magic
Hi! Welcome back!! After this, some-would-say, longish holiday (you know there are some things you never get tired of ) I am back and so are you, if you are reading this post.
Today I want to introduce you to Akinator, the Web Genius. Akinator can read your mind and tell you who you’re thinking of by answering a few questions. Think about a real or fictional characte, and he will try to guess who it is !
You too can try to trick Akinator. You will see that he is not infallible. But hush… he does not like to hear it. Be careful though: you must answer honestly. Remember the frightening warning of our genie!
“I am capable of guessing who you are thinking about with a few questions. If I cannot, if you beat me, then I shall leave you alone. But be careful! Answer my questions accurately or… or you will take my place in the lamp.”
Click on the genie or follow this link http://en.akinator.com/.
Kind of creepy,isn’t it?
Another cool site to watch videos: Watchmojo
This is one of my favourite sites to see and use videos for my students. It’s called watchmojo and here you can enjoy free short clips in a wide variety of categories such as Automotive, Education, Fashion, Film, Food, Gambling, Health, Music, Politics & Economy, Space, Sports, Technology and Travel.
I have chosen a video about how social media can affect relationships to show you some of its contents. Ready to do some listening practice??
Guess who
I owe this idea to my colleague, Mº Jesús Balán who has an excellent blog ESL Bloggers.
Ready? Time to put into practice everything learnt for picture description. Click here and here if you need to brush up .
Look at these pictures. The exercise is quite simple. Choose someone from this collage and write a description in as much detail as possible.
Online newspapers
Sadly, and this is just my personal opinion, fewer people are reading the print papers. I know that some people call them the “dead tree edition” but I still want to retain some of the old ways. I can’t think of many things as pleasurable as having my midmorning cup of coffee sitting at a café terrace relaxing under the spring sun enjoying a juicy piece of news, can you? I know going online would be great for the environment but… I can’t help being a bit selfish here !
And you, so you still read newspapers or have you already moved on line??
If you are one of those who prefer reading online , let me show you a place I’ve found great for reading newspapers online. It is called The Paper Boy and here you can search for online newspapers by country, title, city…etc
