What makes a good friend?

You can expect to make 363 mates during your life but you’ll only be able to call six of them your true friends, a survey has found.
Ten thousand people were quizzed to find out how we make and break friends.

The results showed that most of us will end up with a circle of about 30 close friends, with six of them being the ones we tell our innermost secrets to.

But what are the characteristics of a good friend? and Are you a good friend to your mates?

Adele

This is what I’m listening to these days.

Adele is, according to the BBC’s Sound of 2008 list, the most promising new music talent in UK. Her debut album is called 19 telling us about her age and it topped the British charts this year. In a way she sounds very much like her classmates Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash and she went to the same performing school in South London.

And now… fancy listening to her performing live (Adele_Chasing Pavements) ?

Or would you rather do a listening with this beautiful song ? Yes? Click here

Maria Mena

Maria Mena is a singer-songwriter from Norway, only 21 years old and she has already released 3 cd’s, of which her last album”Apparently Unaffected” with the single “Just Hold Me” has put her on the international charts.
“I’ve always tried to be really honest and really direct and not hide anything,” she says. “I just write songs that I would want to listen to. One song can create one emotion or several.”

For Maria Mena, it always comes back to the music. “Have you ever hummed a melody that you just made up?,” she asks. “That’s how I do it, though it’s more intense, on a more conscious level. I collect words and I collect sentences until I get a song, then I put them down together. I’ve learned to use that gift.” She works with producer Arvid Solvang to create her arrangements. “I sing for him, hum the melody, and he puts chords to it,” she says. “I have this sound in my head. Within pop, you have little boundaries, but I can do whatever I want: I can do jazz, soul, and R&B, but all within pop. Music keeps on breaking boundaries, it keeps on pushing those limits and that is what makes everything so universal and so amazing and I don’t think we should explain it. Just leave it at that and basically see where it takes us next.”
Fancy listening to her lovely voice in “Just hold me“? Pity the video isn’t any better, I imagine it has a lot to do with the fact that she doesn’t sell many records but ,in my opinion, this singer has grace, taste and talent and a very rich voice which reaches deep .

Gabrielle

British R&B vocalist Gabrielle began her career singing for free in London West End clubs whilst temping in offices during the day. Her big break came when she recorded a demo, called “Dreams,” based around Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” which subsequently fell into the hands of an A&R man at London’s Go! Beat records. With the hit came a head-turning image, complete with kiss curls and sequined eye patch as Gabrielle’s right eye has a drooped lid.
Her debut album, Find Your Way, sold over a million copies worldwide, and paved the way for her sophomore, self-titled album, released in 1996 . In three short years, those two albums and nine singles — five of which were Top Ten — established Gabrielle as the U.K.’s premiere soul vocalist.
In 2000, Gabrielle followed up with her appropriately titled third album, Rise, which followed a difficult time for her personally and creatively. Widely publicized reports concerning her ex-partner’s criminal conviction threatened to overshadow her musical accomplishments, not to mention her creative potential. The songs on Rise spoke of optimism, romanticism, devotion, and a keen survival instinct. The lead single, “Sunshine,” was a spirited thank you to those friends you have on hand to boost your confidence when you’re low. Her 2001’s world-wide hit “Out of Reach” was the feature track from the Bridget Jones’s Diary soundtrack.
Now if you feel in the mood , listen to her hit “Out of Reach”, my “moody” choice this week, especially dedicated to you know who.

Want to sing ?

Knew the signs
Wasn’t right
I was stupid for a while
Swept away by you
And now I feel like a fool
So confused,
My heart’s bruised
Was I ever loved by you?Out of reach, so far
I never had your heart
Out of reach,
Couldn’t see
We were never
Meant to be

Goodbye My Lover

“Back to bedlam” , James Blunt’s debut album has some soul in it but if I had to choose a song it would definitely be “Goodbye my Lover” . This song moves me in a way no other song has  ever done as it never fails to stir my memories  .

“Goodbye My Lover”

Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
‘Cause I saw the end before we’d begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.
So I took what’s mine by eternal right.
Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won’t stop there,
I am here for you if you’d only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I’ve kissed your lips and held your hand.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I’ve been addicted to you.[x2]
Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
