VERB PATTERNS: INFINITIVE  AND -ING FORMS

1. Some verbs are followed by "to + infinitive"

She would like to buy a new dress
I want to buy a new house

2. Other verbs are followed by "-ing"

He enjoys going to discos
They finished doing the exam

3. There are also verbs that can be followed by both "to+infinitive" and "-ing" with no change of meaning.

It began to snow/snowing
He continued to teach/teaching,

4. Don´t forget that after a preposition the verb always takes "-ing".

He is looking forward to seeing you again.
We´re  thinking of studying French next year.
